Brothers and Sister:
The next few months will be a very busy time for our Local. We have several important events scheduled for the months of May and June. I realize and understand that we all have very busy schedules. I am asking that we all pitch in where and when we can. No help will be turned down. The date for our first FireOps 101 program is approaching and we will need as many people as we can get. This single event could prove to be the most import event that we have ever undertaken. We are the first Local in the State to conduct an event of this nature and it has already been the subject of many discussions throughout the Pennsylvania Professional Fire Fighters Association (PPFFA) membership. I am asking each and everyone of you for your support and assistance as we get closer to the date. The FireOps 101 committee has been working feverishly to make the program a success. With our Brothers in Altoona we hope to educate our elected leaders about our profession.
Additionally, other Locals from across the State have met with our members to learn how to conduct their own FireOps programs. We are truely the leaders and you are the reason for that.
On May 23rd our members will be traveling to Pittsburgh to learn how to better help support the Muscular Dystrophy Association and their fight against that dreaded disease.
On June the 5th our members will again be on the road for the second regional PPFFA educational seminar in Uniontown. If anybody is interested in attending this one day program please let me know.
Also on June the 5th we are hosting our Central Pennsy Fire Fighters Association meeting at the Parrot Bay Cafe. The event begins with a meal at 7pm and the meeting follows at 8. Please plan on attending as these events are very informative and you get to network with your Brothers from Locals throughout central PA.
Again this year we will be involved in the Thunder in the Valley Pub. I believe that the success of last years pub should all make us realize how important this event is to our organization. In the next weeks I will be posting a schedule of times and shifts for staffing the event.
Local 463 and Local 299 will be hosting the Go for Gallardy Poker run. This event will be held on Friday June 22nd. The momentum for this worthy fundraiser has been growing since its inception last year. Please make all your friends who ride aware of the event.
